Drone Companies Are Helping Lifeguards

drone companies are saving drowning victims
I was reading news articles on the internet and I found this story interesting. Particularly since last month, I wrote a blog article telling all of my readers about the very big problem that we are all having right now with a lifeguard shortage. Not only here in Houston, but this lifeguard shortage is a world-wide problem. So, when I read this story about how drone companies are building special drones to help lifeguards, I thought my readers would find this story interesting, also.

Here is how that story goes as reported by People

Drone Companies to the Rescue

A specially built drone helped save a 14-year old boy from drowning off the coast of Valencia, Spain earlier this month.

The boy got caught in an out-going current while swimming. A specially built drone dropped a life vest that managed to keep the boy afloat until human lifeguards could be notified and come to the rescue.

This specially-made drone was being flown by a trained pilot from General Drones. They have been contracted for providing these lifesaving services,

“When we arrived what we saw was a kid that was in very bad shape, with almost no energy to keep floating, so I sent over the life vest,” Miguel Angel Pedrero, a drone pilot for the company told the news agency.

“Because of the heavy waves it was a complicated maneuver, but we finally managed to give him the vest and he could float until the lifeguards reached him by jet ski,” he added.

The boy was taken to a local hospital and sent home the next day.

More than 30 of these specially built drones are being flown and operated by General Drones at more than 22 beaches in Spain. They have saved at least 4 lives in the past seven days. These drones are probably here to stay.

Life Saver Survival Swim School is Also Here to Stay

It’s my career, now, but teaching children how to survive if they should ever find themselves in a pool of water is what’s MOST IMPORTANT to me. I eat and sleep at this job!

Please, if you have children that don’t know how to swim and/or float, please consider enrolling them for one of our classes. Or, perhaps they just need to brush up on skills they may have already learned.

You can sign your children up for classes HERE. Or, if you may have some questions, please feel free to give me a telephone call. My name is Bonnie. My telephone number is (832) 366-3008. Or maybe you prefer to email me.
